Learning Objectives 

This course enables a better understanding of the political interests of partners in development cooperation. You will learn how to differentiate between civil society, governmental and personal positions in issues surrounding the topic of devleopment policy.


  • The focal points and players of German development cooperation
  • Your own role and institutional role in the context of international agreements and the Agenda 2030
  • Regional and international organisations and their role in the field of cooperation
  • Measuring the success of development processes
  • Interests and interest groups in the partner countries.

Training approach

The trainers will utilise the context of your project as the basis for studying individual topics in depth. Interactive teaching, presentations and exercises will be alternating. Depending on the group constellations, role playing and group work will also take place.

Who should attend this workshop

An advisor, co-ordinator or manager in the field of international cooperation, and you do not hold an academic qualification in either the political sciences or the subject of international cooperation.
