The course is intended for GIZ staff, i.e. national or international experts or managers, who are responsible for the implementation or coordination of projects / project components or (partial) budgets.

Objectives and Content: 

You want to expand your knowledge on financial procedures, procurement of services / goods and financing instruments. 

Course Content:

Module 1 : Principles of financial management of projects

  • External and internal framework conditions for project-related financial management with respect to various clients (BMZ and other German public sector clients).
  • Support provided by the GIZ offices and headquarters
  • Responsibilities and tasks of the officer in charge of the commission.
  • Principles of project -related financial processes and responsibilities during the preparation of an offer, implementation and completion of projects.

Module 2 :  Procurement of goods and services including financing instruments

  • Rules and procedures for the procurement of goods and services through GIZ headquarters and in partner countries
  • Basic principles, rules and regulations for the use of financing instruments
  • Responsibilities of GIZ headquarters, GIZ offices and project
  • Support and services by the Procurement and Contracting Division
