Rice is vital for billions of farmers and consumers who depend on it for livelihoods and sustenance. However, the industry is faced with innumerable challenges concerning the environment and value chains. Sustainable rice production has therefore become a reliable solution to help our rice industry – proven to be cost-effective and provide a higher quantity of better quality crops in the long run. This training is designed for persons who will implement registered SRP outreach programs, particularly those conducting farmer outreach and farmer capacity building activities. Participants will not only understand, in-depth, the SRP Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation and Performance Indicators but will also learn how to implement these SRP instruments in their own context.


Learning Objectives

At the end of the training, the participants will have:

  • Understood the purpose of the SRP instruments, and how they can be used in complement to drive sustainable rice cultivation;
  • Determined how to apply the SRP Standard and Performance Indicators to meet the objectives of their SRP outreach program;
  • Practiced and planned how to effectively communicate on the SRP Standard and Performance Indicators; and



  • Benefits of Sustainable Rice Farming
  • Overview of SRP: Vision, Members, Instruments, and Supporting Resources
  • SRP Standard on Sustainable Rice Cultivation and Performance Indicators
  • Case Study and Applied Exercise of SRP Program Implementation


Who should attend this training?

Public officials, development practitioners, private company representatives, NGOs, program managers, consultants, trainers, or related persons who will implement farmer outreach and farmer capacity building activities under registered SRP outreach programs*

*Priority seats will be given to persons from SRP member organizations who are directly engaged in implementing registered SRP outreach programs

The training course will be held in English. A good command of English is required for effective learning.
